I had this guy for diff eq and 1 word: GROUPS!!! I received a B- in this class soley due to the fact that he assigned us all in random groups. Only one person in my group (out of 6) actually contributed to the group homeworks and quizzes (which count for all of your grade) and that person ended up dropping the class because the professor was very dull and tested us on unnecessarily difficult material. Also, he expected every student to write PARAGRAPHS explaining why your work led to the answer you put down, and oftentimes he'd take off points for usings synonyms of words he corrected us with. Overall, AVOID GARVAN AT ALL COSTS!

Pros: Interesting material, entertaining professor, fairly straight forward about what you need to know, KNOW the names and significance of the mathematicians he pastes on the wall (yeah, that's him putting up pictures all around Little Hall); go see him for homework help 'cause he's totally available and it will really help your grad if you're struggling

Cons: Nothing much to say against him and the class
