HORT 2000 - Horticultural Science
It's definitely an easy A so...take it! You might even learn a couple of cool facts!
Pros: Basically 3 easy course assignments (you pretty much have to turn in a 3x5 notecard and get a 100 (for two of them) and 6 hours of volunteer work for the other). He tells you at the beginning to not waste money on a book- he tells you everything you need to know for the exams within his lectures- SO YOU HAVE TO GO TO CLASS. There is almost a quiz every class period (by the way)- not difficult at all though.
Cons: Doesn't post lectures online.

Pros: Easy teacher and class. Can be fun at times and is very easy to persuade.
Cons: Class can get very dry because tests do not demand paying attention in class. Horticulture hours are also a pain to complete.

Pros: Easy credit: 6 hours of volunteering, taking care of a plant, easy in-class quizzes.

Nice guy, and no attendance policy.
Cons: Hard to tell what to study for on the tests.

VERY unfair grading policy on online Quizzes. There were 6, & I thought the last one was due a day later. He refused to open it back up, claiming it was too late in the semester and that he wanted to keep track of everything so he couldn’t open it back up. I don’t get that because it’s automatically graded, so he only had to re-open it for an hour. I find it extremely unfair to refuse to open the last quiz when he re-opened LITERALLY EVERY OTHER ASSIGNMENT this semester for anyone who forgot. This is the only thing I’ve forgotten all semester, but since it’s the last one I don’t get another chance even though everyone else got one? Super uncool.
Overall, I like Berle. This last assignment really ticked me off though. I wouldn’t have minded if he hadn’t opened every other assignment back up, but since he gave all the others a second chance this seems really unfair.

The one mistake people make is putting extra effort into the three events/projects. They all require minimal energy to get a 100, so an extra effort is just a waste of time that could be used on a harder class.

Pros: Easy A.
Cons: "Horticulturist for a Day" hours are pointless.
2 tests, 1 cumulative final. Tests are easy, particularly if you have the old tests. Don't have to come to class except for the quizzes-which means you need to be present for 12 classes to get an A. "Pot Luck" project and caring for your horticulture plant are so easy!

Pros: His two projects are super easy and actually pretty fun if you put forth an effort. And his tells you most of the test questions in his lectures and on the quizzes.
Cons: You have to do 6 hours of volunteer hours at the UGArden or elementary school gardens so that gets pretty time consuming if you have a busy schedule.
I overall thought this was an easy class. I think his tests and even his final is on Koofers and he doesnt change them much. You have to go to class though because he gives attendance quizzes very often. They are very easy and you can use your notes so you make a 100 on basically all of them. They are normally 5 questions but at the end of the course, the quiz grades add up to be worth more than your test grades. He does this weird point system instead of the letter grade scale but it works out for your own good in the long run. Definitely recommend this class if you are willing to study a little and work outside a little.

Pros: Great teacher, genuinely nice guy

Never in his office, always at the UGArden
Cons: Lectures can get long and repetitive

Never in his office, always at the UGArden
Very easy to work with, will help you get the grade you deserve. The UGArden hours are kind of a pain, but if you make the effort to get them in early, they will be no problem and they turn out to be very relaxing. I really enjoyed taking his class and if you do the module quizzes (typically 1x week) you will do fine. For the Midterm and final you are given a bank of questions from which he chooses that you can easily study from.

Pros: He points out all relevant material during lecture. Most of the questions on the tests can be answered logically.
Cons: You have to take your own notes... he doesn't post any of them. There are projects that you are required to do that can be relatively expensive and time consuming.
He gave 17 quizzes (1700 points), but you only needed to get 1200 points to get a 100% for quizzes. Three projects are required throughout the semester: pumpkin carving competition, growing a plant, and a pot luck dinner. There are also six hours of community service which is required.

Pros: Straight Forward Assignments

Two east tests

Impossible to make below 100% on quizzes

Attendance isn't required
Cons: Boring Class

Very Strict on use of Notecards
This is your "Easy A" if you just put in the work. Show up to class on the days you have to. Never make below 100% on the online take home quizzes. Turn in your assignments on time. Do the volunteer days. BAM! A in the class. Honestly the people that cant get an A are the ones that are too lazy and really shouldn't be in college.

Pros: Really easy class. Great class to take when you have a heavy workload. Requires very little effort.
Cons: You have to devote 4 hours of work at the UGArden over the course of the semester.
Dr. Berle is great and really cares about his students. He designs this class to be easy. He is really passionate about the subject of horticulture. Although this class requires very little effort, you will take away a good bit of knowledge about horticulture, gardening, and landscaping.

Pros: Easy class. You dont have to pay attention to get an A. If you put in a minimal effort and go to class and study for the exams you're guaranteed an A.
Cons: It is boring and you have to go to class.
I never paid attention or took notes and i barley studied for exams but I made it out with an A. Study the koofers tests and briefly review old take homes tests before exams and you'll be fine. The projects are basically guaranteed As.

A GREAT GPA boosting class. There is a good amount of silly outside of class work such as carving pumpkins and making a "potluck dish" however these are all easy 100's. The old tests are all on koofers and they were pretty much the same (with the exception of the final). If you keep up with all your assignments and make sure you get all the in class quiz points you should get an A.

Pros: Easy A
Cons: Boring

Have to go to class
This class is the definition of an easy A. There are several projects that are grade inflators (keeping a houseplant alive, cooking a food for the potluck) and berle gives extra credit. You have to work 8 hours at the Ugarden for 10% of your grade (completion). The midterm and final are just like the ones on koofers, so just study those.

Pros: It's an easy class if you'll go to class. You have to be there for the clicker quizzes or your grade will be pretty bad. There are old tests online that have a lot of his questions on it.

It used to be 8 work hours, but he switched it to 4
Cons: You have to do work hours, a house plant, and a pot luck. But it's really not hard and you get a 100 for each if you do it.

Cons: lecture class so it gets a little boring. Community service hours outside of class. Pop quizzes with clicker

His class is very easy and basic. You should show up so you can complete the quizzes, because they count for a good bit of your grade. You do need to study for his tests. Otherwise, I would recommend taking his class!
