SPCM 1500 - INTERPERSONAL COMM
Definitely take Professor Callison over any other teacher!
Pros: She's a great teacher! Breakdown of the class: 2 tests plus 1 final. Weekly chapter outlines (not difficult at all. they actually help you study for your exams). 1 Culture presentation (with group) as well as a chapter leader presentation (create an activity based on that weeks lesson). All in all, it's manageable.
Cons: Attendance is MANDATORY but it's really that bad.
There is one assignment that is research based. You either have to participate in a survey or write a paper. Either one you choose, do it at the START of the semester even though its not due until the end of the semester.

Ms. Callison is a super nice lady and she will give you a good grade on your speeches if you try on them. Overall, I think that I improved a lot in my public speaking ability which I guess was the point of the course, but I didn't very much enjoy it...

Pros: So nice! Notes are posted on eLC. She always involves the class in discussion. Has the entire class discuss examples on topics from each chapter which is really helpful.
Cons: Attendance is mandatory. Chapter outlines are due each week and can be time consuming, but they aren't hard at all and they help for the test a lot. Test questions can be a little tricky - know the vocab really well, it helps!

Pros: She is a great teacher! It is a fun class. There are two group assignments which are really fun! She posts her notes on eLC. The tests aren't that hard if you read the book and her notes. You can easily make an A if you study for the tests
Cons: We had to write chapter summaries from the text book. But they weren't that bad. Helps for the test! Attendance is mandatory.

Pros: VERY friendly. She's a sweet teacher that likes the subject material and knows it well. It's an easy A for sure. She takes attendance but it only counts for participation points. Weekly "papers" are outlines of the chapter. Study a little and you'll make an A.
Cons: none :)
TAKE HER. I heard other teachers could be hard, but she is both very nice and easy.

Ms. Callison is a super nice lady and she will give you a good grade on your speeches if you try on them. Overall, I think that I improved a lot in my public speaking ability which I guess was the point of the course, but I didn't very much enjoy it. Class usually consists of Ms. Callison standing at the front of the room lecturing on a powerpoint about public speaking. The material can be very dry and I don't really think that that is all her fault but it is hard to sit through the whole thing sometimes.

The real problem with this class though is the tests. They are on what seems to be very simple content. All of the stuff seems to be common sense, but you will not do well on the tests if you do not study. However, that being said, you probably won't do well on the tests if you do study. Mostly the tests cover familiar topics from the stuff in the book and on the powerpoints, but there are a lot of questions where there will be several correct answers from the powerpoints given as options and you will have to basically just guess which is the best one. They're not impossible, but they make this a really hard class to get an A in. Overall, I was able to get like an A- in the class but I feel like I would have rather gotten an A in another class. But she really is super nice.

Pros: Very nice professor. Speeches are given fairly high grades as long as you are okay with speaking in front of people and your practiced a little. Tests are very generously curved because she doesn't really want to give them, she's required too. Lots of days in class are spent doing fun group activities that boost your participation grade (which counts as much as one of the tests)
Cons: Professor takes the subject a little bit too seriously. Also, at the beginning of the semester nearly nothing happens and then toward midterms you get speeches back to back to back.
Would definitely recommend this professor and class! Very interesting and useful for the future! And an easy A and easy way to get out of taking a foreign language class.

Pros: she is so nice. she changed her class this semester so instead of outlines you just choose one vocab word from the chapter and write a couple paragraphs and then everybody shares their word, she gives you a 100 basically if you do the assignment. the tests are easy just know the vocab. class is mandatory but she lets you out early every day basically. the projects are really easy if everybody in your group participates. she makes the class really fun and friendly.
Cons: only con is sometimes the test questions dont really make sense but its not enough to worry about so no worries its an easy a

definately take this class, its fun and way easier than the other speech classes i heard about from my friends

Pros: Projects are group and very easy. Weekly outlines are due, but they are great study tools. The tests are straightforward as long as you do the outlines and look over the vocab. She puts the slide shows online.
Cons: Takes attendance.
She is really nice and makes it easy to succeed. Usually lets class out early!

Pros: Tests are very fair

Get out of class early almost every day
Cons: None
Professor Callison is a very nice lady. The class generally follows the same format every week. Mondays are a supplemental lecture plus a culture presentation by students, Wednesdays are oral papers (you right a 1 page paper explaining a definition from the chapter), and Fridays are group activities. As long as you study for the tests somewhat in advanced you should do great!

Pros: Callison is an extremely friendly person. I definitely enjoyed learning from her
Cons: some of the questions on the tests are a little confusing on what exactly it is asking.
I showed up for class early a lot, and would always have a pleasant conversation with her. She teaches things clearly and tries to get the class involved a lot by asking our opinions or if we can think of an example.

Pros: She is nice and tries hard to make sure that she knows each student by name. The class honestly isn't too hard. I'm almost positive my entire class has an A or B+ average.
Cons: The outlines that she used to make classes do were thrown out so now she actually gives normal tests. The tests aren't that bad and the speeches are really not that difficult though.

Pros: She is very fair and grades a lot easier than the other public speaking teachers. She gives extra credit but its not really necessary to do because she grades fairly. Also, there are no tests.
Cons: There are quite a few outlines to write but they are really easy. Once you get the hang of things, they get done really fast. She grades them really easily.

Pros: Super Nice. She is an enthusiastic person who is very flexible with students. Tests are super easy if you study!
Cons: Just because she is flexible doesn't mean she won't set you straight. She doesn't take laptops in class nor phones so watch it. Chapter Outlines can get pretty annoying but they help alot for the tests.
