Dr. G is by far the BEST professor for intro physics classes. I'm taking him for the second semester course. Physics is an inherently difficult course conceptually, but Dr. G made us laugh at least twice every class. Btw, go to class. For his exams, 1-3 questions came directly from what was discussed in class but NOT in the textbook. You can still solve these questions if you truly understand the physics of it, but half of you reading this rating won't be able to do that come exam time.
Pros:
Extra credit opportunities frequently given. They're usually 1-2% ADDED to your final grade. They require some thinking and are limited to about 10 students each time (it was usually like 4 people max, but we managed to charm him into letting more people try).
Easy exams if you actually use the textbook in the way he recommends you use it.
Replaces ONE exam with your final exam grade, if the latter is better than the former. I went from a 82% to a 98% cause of that (I got a 96% on the final exam and got like 4% extra credit on the final)
MULTIPLE CHOICE EXAMS! YESSSS! For half of the problems, you can guess and check by using the answers given.
Funny. Original problems (many of which popped up on the exams)
Straight forward exams as long as you study. If you don't study, you are thoroughly fucked (unless you're a physics/math whiz of course)
Cheat sheet that is hand written, regular printer paper, front and back.
Cons:
Difficult exams UNLESS you complete every single odd problem in the back of the book for each section you are expected to know (i.e. complete the odds for the end of chapter problems for sections 1,2, and 3. No need to do the very last section where it combines the sections.) If you read the book and do the problems in the book as well as the homework, this class isn't hard at all.
15 question exams and a 25 question final exam. Even though this is a multiple choice, if you screw up on 2 questions for the regular exams, you're already looking at a max of 87% on them.
