Pros: -EXTREMELY easy class. Come to class and you should be able to make an A.

-The only grades are 3 papers throughout the semester. 2 of those papers you are allowed to resubmit as many times as it takes to get the grade you want.

-Truly challenges and broadens your perspective of diversity and how to successfully use it in the classroom.

-Let's you out of class early.

-Group work every week.

-Computer use in class is encouraged.
Cons: -Class gets kind of boring and repetitive after the first half of the semester.
Professor Gitlin's goal is to broaden your perspective of diversity. I learned so much from him. His class is very interesting and has really cool ways of challenging your views of diversity. If you can show that you learned something in his class and really tried, you will walk out of the class with an A. He even tells you on the first day of classes that he believes everyone should have and will have A's at the end of the semester. I took his class when it was a night class once a week. It was totally worth it. He always lets you out of class early. Participate in class to get on his good side. He really likes it when students begin to discuss and challenge each others point of views, even if they are just playing devils advocate.

I honestly don't know why you are still reading this review. Take his class!

Pros: Great teacher
This class is all about discussion and interaction. If you go to class and put effort into the assignments, you will get an A. He is a great teacher and makes the class fun. There are 4 papers and you are required to do 10 hours of community field experience.

Pros: The class is very easy. He is pretty chill. If you want an easy A and not learn anything for a semester take it.
Cons: He does a poor job explaining the assignments. We spend the class working on assignments and not learning anything new from him. His class is poorly planned.
This was probably the most disappointing class I have taken. We just spend class time working on one of our three papers. Each class he changes the instructions for the papers. But because he knows how confused students are, he is very lenient with the grading.

If you want an easy A take this class. If you don't like wasting your time, choose another professor.

Pros: Wants everyone to have an A

Not a lot of reading/homework
Cons: Very conceptual teacher

Can get boring
This was a very simple class. I didn't have to do much work for it--there are 3 essays (in additional to the Field Experience essay) most that I did the day before they were due and still did well on them. They all build on each other. He wants to give everyone an A and is very helpful. Final Presentation at the end of the class over what you have learned. I'd recommend him.

Pros: Allows you to continuously rewrite paper until you get the grade you want.
Cons: Three papers and 1 presentation

Sometimes gives very confusing instructions.
Dr. Gitlin is an excellent professor who truly cares about the success of every one of his students. He assigns three papers and grades them very fairly, and will allow you to re-write the paper until you are happy with it. He is extremely caring and very helpful. I'd recommend him to anyone needing to take this course.

Professor Gitlin really knows what he's talking about, and he uses experiences from his own life to back up each point he makes. He is always willing to listen to what his students have to say even if he personally disagrees with what that student is saying. An excellent professor! Take him if you get the chance!!

Pros: Meets once a week!
Cons: NONE
Literally one of the best teachers I have had at UGA. Really open minded and allows for you to correct your papers if you don't like the grade you receive. You learn a lot and it's not forced. I recommend this class and professor to everyone.
