PSYC 1101 - Elementary Psychology
The "project" is announced at the beginning of the semester. Trust me, it's so easy. You have to complete 6.5 hours of experiments. It's not bad, just get it done early and don't worry about it later. You may be able to do extra hours for extra credit.
Pros: He's pretty funny, mainly because of the way he trips over his words, haha. He's a very good teacher, and the concepts are explained well.
Cons: The tests are designed to be hard. You have to read the book a great deal to get what he doesn't cover in class.

Pros: He is a pretty funny guy. He's very ADD so he loses focus easily and he's a kind of awkward man. Stutters a lot and laughs at his own jokes. But he knows his stuff for the most part.
Cons: Tests are difficult and take a lot of studying. Attendance isn't mandatory but he uses the in class lecture notes for the exams. Lots of outside reading in the book because the test questions are 50% lecture notes and 50% book. Class can be boring at times and he avoids difficult or controversial questions.
Average intro to Psyc class. Decent professor. Difficult tests. Occasionally curved. A in the class if you go to class, read the book, and study a lot before the tests.

Also, this class requires you participate in Psychology studies outside of class. Some are online.

Pros: He curves his tests
Cons: He is extremely biased and it shows. He is boring and scatterbrained during lecture. His exams come mostly from the book so you have to read a lot. Don't take this as a blow off class because it is definitely not
I do not recommend this class, because now I hate psychology

Pros: absolutely nothing. He's horrible at giving lectures cause he's so ADD and they're unbelievably boring
Cons: Tests are extremely hard and super specific. He has 3 tests and then a final and drops your lowest test grade from those 4. I've studied my butt off for every test and I got 1 B, 1 C, and 1 failed grade. And he is of no help when you ask how to improve
DONT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH GOODIE! Take it with someone else. It's Psych 1101....it shouldn't be this hard.

Pros: Nice guy

Has a great way of explaining things, knows his stuff

Posts his lectures

Lets you drop a test
Cons: Must have ADHD, can be hard to follow sometimes and gets off topic A LOT

Stutters

Two tests, a paper, and a cumulative final. Anything in lecture or the book is fair game for the tests, which makes it a lot of material. He lets you drop a test or the final, but (normally) will not let you drop the paper. I made high As on both of the first two tests and worked really hard on the paper, so I was confident that I could exempt the final. But because he was VERY vague on what he wanted in the research paper, I made a low grade on it. Somehow though, he found it in his heart to let me drop the paper and use the two tests and the final as my three grades, which was nice. Overall easy class, just study for the tests and meet with him about the paper if you're at all unsure.

Pros: He curved every test and counted extra hours of research as extra credit. The final is optional and only counts 3 out of 4 test. He is passionate about psychology and is funny at times.
Cons: He does stutter a lot, extremely ADD, and boring at times. He tells you on the first day that tests are difficult and detailed-which is true. However, reading the book helps a ton. I know a lot of people struggled, but take good notes in lecture and read and you should be fine. I got an A and exempted the final so it's not impossible.

Pros: I liked Goodie, but heads up; he's sort of nutty. Seemed VERY nervous on the first day of lecture, but was better the rest of the semester. Still, he goes on rants, but he is a really good teacher. Passionate about psychology. Final is OPTIONAL.
Cons: Tests are tough, but I got by without my book. He tests on things from lecture and textbook. Luckily, he provides old tests and those helped me to get a B+.
Must get done at least 6.5 hours of psych studies outside of class. Not bad, some are fun.

Pros: Super Easy;

No books required;

Class often lets out early;

Attendance not required;

Most notes available online
Cons: Some questions are confusing;

Can be boring at times;

Limited grades
He requires us to write a paper due after Thanksgiving, which is fine because we have almost the whole semester to work on it. I was worried because there is only 2 test and a final so there is not much chances to pull your grades up but he drops one of those 3 grades so you can skip the final if you want.

Pros: Test scores are curved

Extra Credit

Cons: The tests are hard
Your grade in this class is directly proportional to how much work you put into it. The tests are hard, but there aren't too many. You have to take good notes and , in my opinion, can't cram at the last minute. You will do very well if you read the book and take notes on it and take good notes during his lectures. You can do extra research hours for extra credit but it doesn't end up coming out to a ton of points.

Pros: Only 3 of the 4 tests count

Funny
Cons: Can be scatterbrained a bit

Writing part on the final

Overall, this class was not bad. If you do good on the first 3 tests, which are not cumulative, then you do not have to take the final, which is cumulative. Also, he gave extra credit from your required psych studies/papers. He can get a bit scatterbrained sometimes, but you'll learn to tune that out and focus on what you actually need to write.

Pros: He's a funny guy and socially awkward but that makes it fun. You have option of taking final exam. If other 3 exam grades are fairly good and you do not want to take final, it is not required. Goodie also puts all his power points and notes online so it's not mandatory that you show up to class.
Cons: Only 3 exams and 1 final exam. Some exam questions come from the book and you have to actually read the text sometimes to do well on the test.

Pros: Other than being a dept head - none
Cons: Do not take under any circumstance unless you want to work your a off and still get a B. Better profs that teach it. Tests are very difficult and tricky
I read all the comments before taking him BUT thought I could still pull an A. Had 89.5 and no rounding. I had a 4.0 w 61 hours prior to this class- was my first B+. Studied more for this class than any other and it is PSYS 1101... Run...

Pros: fun and interesting class. goodie is funny and explains things in a way that's easy to understand.

if you take this class, def attend the lectures, take notes, and read the assigned chapters.
Cons: there are only 3 test grades for this class. no homework, no quizzes, no papers. so make sure you give yourself an adequate amount of time to study.

i made a B+ in his class but i could have done better if i had read and studied more.

Pros: Interesting lectures. Really likes Pysch. Friendly. Can be funny. Posts lecture slides online. Curves well.
Cons: His awkwardness is true, but you get over it quickly. Tests are kinda hard.
Read all the textbook readings, know all the key concepts and know them well. Lecture notes are apparently very helpful as well. Attendance is not all required but hearing the lectures is definitely recommended. I liked Goodie.

Pros: He curves every test except the final

No homework

No attendance policy but you should go because his tests are half lecture/half textbook

Cons: HE WILL NOT CURVE YOUR FINAL GRADE.

I really disliked his lecturing. He kind of laughs to himself and stumbles a lot.
I think it was an average psych class but there are easier professors. However, there was no homework or attendance policy, so that was great.

Pros: You can read the book and still pass the exam. He'll give you extra credit though the psychology experiments. There's not much of a workload because he doesn't make it mandatory to read the textbook, but it will definitely help on the exam.
Cons: His lectures aren't very lively because he has a lot to say about the topics You may have him talk about one topic for half the class period.

Pros: Very enthusiastic and keeps your attention during lecture. Covers everything you need to know for the tests. Information is interesting.
Cons: Tests get progressively harder, or at least they did for me. You have to go to class to pass, he did now post lecture slides online when I took the class
You don't have to read the book to do well but you should if you want a guaranteed A.

Cons: Class can be really boring because he posts his Power Points on ELC, so you might not feel like actually going to class.
The Psych studies that you have to do for class credit aren't that bad, and he lets you get extra credit if you do more than the required hours.
