ENTO 2010
Insects and the Environment
5*****
Pros: Tells you exactly what will be on the tests and quiz.
Cons: Class can sometimes get a little dull. Sometimes he posts the powerpoints at the last minute and you only have a day to look over the material again.
Guillebeau is an awesome teacher and really loves what he teaches. He is enthusiastic and tries to get students a little more interested in entomology. He understands that most of the people in this class are not going to be entomologists and are just looking for a nice GPA booster. His tests are simple if you look over the powerpoints he posts with stars next to possible test questions, but i would suggest going to class and taking some notes, just in case he forgets to post the notes before the test. He takes random attendence if the class is looking a little empty so go to class just in case. There is also an orders quiz that you can take 4 times, study the powerpoint on it and you'll do fine. This class is simple and takes little effort and to tell the truth it is kind of interesting when Guillebeau brings in bugs (sometimes even performing tricks with them lol)

Insects and the Environment
5*****
Pros: Easy, but very interesting material.
Cons: Nothing.
He is legitimately the best teacher I have ever had. He honestly cares about you learning the material. He bases grades upon improvement, not simply how well you do. His attendance "policy" is negligible because you will want to go to class.

ENTO 2010
Insects and the Environment
5*****
Pros: Pretty funny guy.

Usually brings a new bug into the classroom everyday to show off.

Material is not that hard to learn.

Gives you heads up on the lecture slides as to what will be on the test and stick to it.

Test grading is pretty lenient. Gives you 2 points for each correct answer (including multiple part questions) and test usually involve more than 50 answers so you have a cushion.

The final is cumulative but taken exactly from the first 3 exams.

Quizzes are just attendance and very rarely taken.

Gives you 3 chances at the Orders Quiz (but you shouldn't need it)
Cons: Bugs can be a little boring, especially when learning the scientific names for the orders quiz
Interesting class and he really knows his stuff. Easy A with a little effort.

Pros: Great sense of humor. He knows a large portion of the class is only there to make an easy A, so he makes it very easy for students to get a good grade by starring the test material on his powerpoints.
Cons: Lectures can get a little boring and he uses a lot of videos.
My favorite teacher at UGA thus far. He is a down-to-earth, easy going teacher who really cares about his subject.

Insects and the Environment
5*****
Pros: Professor Guillebeau is the best professor I've had a UGA. He is passionate about what he teaches and makes learning about insects interesting. He is funny and his lectures are entertaining. The biggest plus about the class, other than the professor being absolutely amazing, is that he will put "starburst" next the material you need to know for the test. This class is an easy A, but you will enjoy every second of it.
Cons: There is only ONE orders quiz, which is rather easy, but you have to study for it (You can take it 3 different times).
If you need an elective, take this class! You won't be disappointed!

FYOS 1001
First-Year Odyssey Seminar
5*****
Pros: This is the best FYOS by far! During every session he took us out of the classroom and into the field. We visited bee farms, the botanical gardens, looked for fossils, and broke old logs all in search of insects! He is a really cool guy and makes it known that if you ever need anything to contact him. We didn't ever have to take any notes, listen to any lectures, or write any papers, yet I still learned a lot about the world of insects. Best class I have ever taken!
Cons: Nothing!
If you want a class that is light on work, but you still want to learn about insects or just have fun, take this class!

4****
Pros: If you can memorize topics and review old tests on Koofers well, you can make an easy A in this class by studying 1-3 hours for each test

you won't need to go to class, although there may be one question from the test or so that could be relevant to the lecture only, but his tests are so easy that you could probably guess the answer and still get it right
Cons: He can be socially awkward at times

He once gave a lecture on genetically modified organism which he knew NOTHING about

Sometimes lecture could be a waste of time

Pros: All test questions come from the power points which are posted online. I studied maybe three hours per test and had a 100 in the class. The final was made up of questions from the previous tests.
Cons: He takes attendance if less than 80% of the class is there but you can always get someone to sign you in.
I loved Guillebeau! Easy A, and actually kind of interesting.

Pros: Really easy class. He posts powerpoints with "starbursts" with points that will be on the tests. There are three tests plus an orders quiz. Tests are easy- purely memorization.
Cons: Can be boring. There's no attendance policy but if attendance gets too low he'll take attendance and that'll count against the three absences you're allowed.
