MATH 2260
Calculus II for Science and Engineering
4****
Pros: Helpful if you don't understand something. Grades SUPER leniently. I would think I missed a question entirely and get almost full credit for it. Homework and quiz grades are pretty much grade boosters.
Cons: Super awkward and since the class is four days a week, it can get REALLY boring. There's either a test or quiz every week so you have to stay on top of things.
The class sucks but if you have to take it, take Klipper.

MATH 2250
Calculus I for Science and Engineering
5*****
Pros: Extra office hours during exam week

puts homework solutions online

excellent handwriting

many example problems
Cons: none
Dr. Klipper is one of the best professors/teachers that I have ever had. He is not only extremely knowledgeable, but he also loves math, and that makes learning from him a lot easier. He wants students to do well, and provides feedback on all homework. Tests are extremely similar to homework and quizzes, so not much extra studying is required. In addition to online homework, he assigns a paper homework once a week, in which you explain the problem as you work it out. This really helps students to understand what they are doing and why they are doing it, which is a lot more helpful than just memorizing problems. I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Klipper. Do whatever you can to have him as a professor.

MATH 2260
Calculus II for Science and Engineering
5*****
Pros: Very helpful.

Teaches subject thoroughly.

Answers all questions completely.

Very enthusiastic.

Frequent office hours.
Cons: none.
I can't say the fact that he moves from subject to subject so quickly is a con because that is just how the course is structured. If you keep up with the lecture, and your homework, you will have no problem doing well on his tests, because he teaches everything so completely. He's a very nice and approachable individual who is more than happy to lend a helping hand, and actively encourages students to attend his office hours. He is also very enthusiastic and keeps the class interesting. I've never seen such a energetic professor. Just awesome!

MATH 2260
Calculus II for Science and Engineering
5*****
Pros: Very nice and down to earth kind of guy, not condescending like many other math teachers. He is very good at explaining things and is available to help literally all the time. He does lots of examples and his test questions are over examples and stuff he covered. Very easy grader with lots of partial credit.
Cons: He's a weird dude, but don't let that deter you from taking him. He's probably one of the best 2260 lecturers here at UGA.
Easy class. He tries to make it interesting, so Calc isn't as bad as it could have been. Overall, Dr. Klipper is a very good teacher and I am glad that I took his class.

MATH 3200
Introduction to Higher Mathematics
5*****
Pros: Klipper is incredibly passionate and knowledgeable about math. He loves to teach this material. The homework and the practice tests are harder than the actual tests, which is wonderful. He also gives hints on particularly hard problems on homework and on tests.
Cons: Homework problem set assigned every week for a grade, and it isn't an easy HW set that you can just breeze through last minute.
Dr. Klipper is very organized in this course, and it shows. The material may seem pedantic or esoteric, but the art and skill of writing proofs is essential to any further study in mathematics (or other related subjects with proofs, such as mathematical statistics or economics, for example). The actual computation required in this class is quite simple — Klipper didn't use calculus — but the nuances of language are challenging. How do you prove that the square root of 2 is irrational? How do you write a proof by contradiction? Induction? These are the kinds of questions you will tackle in Dr. Klipper's 3200 class.

MATH 4000
Modern Algebra and Geometry I
5*****
Pros: Fun lectures, tons of office hours, lenient grader, very helpful outside of class
Cons: Lecturers move very fast
Do not hesitate to take Dr. Klipper for MATH 4000. Not only does he keep lecturers engaging and entertaining, but you will learn so much. Abstract Algebra can be very confusing, and there were definitely days were I had no idea what was going on in class, but whenever I was confused, Dr. Klipper was always available to help catch me up. Homework was given about once a week, and it was time consuming, but great preparation for the tests. Also, Dr. Klipper has so many office hour hours, and will help you with every problem if need be, as long as he see's you're putting in the effort. Additionally, his tests weren't easy, but were very fair, and he is a very lenient grader. Take Dr. Klipper for 4000, or for any math class really. You won't regret it.

5*****
Pros: AMAZING professor.

Exams are similar to homework.

Explains material well.

Attendance not mandatory.

Cons: Can be a little harsh sometimes.

Verbally lashes out at students when they ask questions he thinks everyone should already know the answer to.
Best math professor I've had yet. Extremely quirky guy that explains everything well. Lenient grader. Gives extra credit if you show to office hours for homework and will often grad easier if he notices your willingness to learn in class. Responds to emails promptly and genuinely wants his students to succeed. Take him if you can.

Pros: TAKE HIM FOR THIS CLASS! Everyone says Calc 2 is the hardest, but I made an A in his class and thoroughly enjoyed it! He's an interesting character and him jumping up and down made it easier to pay attention!
Cons: None - TAKE HIM
Take him for this class! I haven't had the opportunity to take him for other classes yet but when I get the chance, I will! Great professor and he made it easy for me - but I am also very good at computational math so take it as it is! Calc 2 requires a lot of effort but I loved it all the same.

Pros: Very knowledgeable and passionate about the material. He is very active and will run and jump in class. Office hours were very helpful.
Cons: Office hours were at an inconvenient time for me. Not much of a con but had to put something.
He tries to make math jokes which are hit and miss. I wanted to take him again but so did his other classes too.

MATH 1113
Precalculus

Pros: BEST PRECAL PROFESSOR AT UGA, speaks english, unlike the others
Cons: nothing
Precal will smash your GPA, but Klipper will help you avoid that. He's a great professor and will spend time outside of class to help you if it's needed. Precal is tough at UGA. Get used to making C's on tests, but you can pull a B if you do well on webquizzes.

Pros: Amazing teacher, and his tests are on the material he taught. If you do the homework and make sure you understand the material you should do fine.
Cons: None
My favorite math professor I have had here so far, I would definitely take him for this class, and I am taking him for Math 4000 in the fall. He loves math and gets excited about it.

Pros: Dr. Klipper is THE BEST math teacher that I have had thus far. He is always willing to help his students understand the material by extending his office hours. He gives homework assignments that resemble the tests so you aren't caught off guard. He simplifies everything. I HIGHLY recommend taking him.

Pros: Very helpful (in office hours, and will make himself available upon request). Also posts detailed hw solutions to trickier problems after you turn it in and grades really quickly.
Cons: Tests sometimes have tricky problems that don't look like things you've done before, but end up being solved a similar way.

4****
Pros: Excited about Math
Cons: can forget he's speaking to beginners
I had Klipper for Math 1113 (precal). It was a repeat class for me b/c I didn't take the placement test when I transferred to UGA, so it was all material I had seen. Other people in the class seemed to be frustrated. I enjoyed Klipper's class. His examples are thorough. His explanations are detailed. He's definitely a MATH guy. I would take him again for an upper level class. His grading on quizzes were fair. The tests were done in a computer lab that he didn't design, so I don't know how he designs tests for upper level classes.

I got A's on everything. There was a quiz I didn't do well on, and he inquired if everything was ok b/c I had bombed the quiz, so he's obviously invested and interested in his students.

MATH 3200
Introduction to Higher Mathematics
4****
Pros: Very enthusiastic

Lenient test grader

Available often for office hours
Cons: Can be very discouraging

Makes you feel stupid at times

Moves very fast and can be confusing
I would recommend Klipper for MATH 3200, but he was not as great as I was expecting. He is a good teacher, but he moves extremely fast. The homework is difficult, but he is available for office hours often, however, every time I went to office hours I felt like he was annoyed that I was there. He definitely grades pretty tests leniently and gives a lot of partial credit, which is nice, however, he can be extremely discouraging and is quick to express his disappointment in the class. The pros definitely outweigh the cons, and I would take him again if I had to.

Pros: Tests are graded somewhat leniently with partial credit.

Office hours a good place for homework help and to understand concepts better.
Cons: Lecture might go a bit quick for some and notes will have to be written quickly

He may get frustrated with you in office hours if you keep asking for the same help for the same concept or question.
Final between 12-14 questions.

Some topics that may be considered too hard will be put off the exams and not show up on the final either.

FInal has an extra credit question.

Just have homework and Tests.

Pros: I took this class 4 years ago. a year ago, I decided to minor in Math, something I recently completed..anyway.

I never showed up for class for calc 2, I wasn't prepared for college when I first went. Anyway, despite never showing up, I managed to pass with a c+. that's pretty amazing. I remember when I did show up, he was a good teacher. a bit quirky, but a good teacher.
Cons: the fact I passed with the low amount of effort I put in is amazing. he's probably a great teacher.

Pros: This guy has to be one of the best calc 2 teachers. He is very enthusiastic, loves to make sure his students understand the material, and prevents the class from falling asleep. For lenient with his partial credit on problems.
Cons: He gets upset when we don't understand the fundamentals of "why" we learned something, what it means, and how to apply it universally, though it's not the students' faults. It's just confusing and he doesn't make it very clear sometimes
