PSYC 3990 - Research Analysis in Psychology
Mahan is hilarious! Class is boring and you feel like you don't learn anything. Tests are easy though and straight from the book's online test bank. Just read the book and you'll be fine.
Pros: Mahan is such an easy and funny professor! No outside class work.
Cons: You have to read the book before tests, but you can study the night before and do well.

PSYC 3990 - Research Analysis in Psychology
TL;DR: He's a nice guy and he's funny but his lectures are pretty much a waste of time and you will have no clue what he will be focusing on on the test.
Pros: It's not a terribly hard subject.
Cons: He learned quickly that people would leave during class when he takes attendance at the beginning. He then started taking attendance at the end. He is usually 6-10 minutes late, rambles about life for about 5-10 minutes, and then rambles about course material for the rest of the class time. I wouldn't have a problem with the lack of powerpoints if he actually seemed to plan the lectures, but he doesn't seem to. Every test seems like a guessing game for what content will be covered and his review sessions are only mildly helpful. The lab quality seems to be highly dependent on your TA so I cannot really make any substantial comments about the lab as a whole other than that the assigned labs are relatively easy.

Pros: Attendance not required but he passes out a sign in sheet each time. Will boost or hurt your grade at the end of the semester. Tests are super easy if you read the textbook. No homework for lecture, no quizzes, no projects.
Cons: As a professor he is all over the place. Talks for the whole class with no visuals and goes on tangents. Somewhat hard to follow. Most people stop coming or use the time in class for Facebook. Doesn't communicate with the TAs at all.
What really makes or breaks this class is your lab TA. Lab counts 30% of your grade and some TAs do quizzes and projects while some don't. Mine only assigned weekly assignments which were really easy. Overall a low stress class with Mahan. Study the book before tests.

Pros: The tests are incredibly easy and he will give points back on certain questions if enough people fight it.
Cons: Very disorganized
Its really easy to make As in all the tests! To pass the tests outline each chapter and study (or memorize) the outlines and do examples that are in between. Don't go to class if its not mandatory. He seems like a nice professor but he is so disorganized in class I was getting confused. He would go over the same examples and topics three classes in a row. He made simple problems so complicated but when I read them in the book Im like thats easy. If he planned his classes so he stuck to certain topics he could improve. But at least I got lucky with a good TA!

Pros: Doesn't take attendance

Cons: Classes are awful.

No visuals or PPTs.

Plays old school videos from the early 90s instead of teaching on some days.
Honestly didn't learn anything in his lectures.

Found myself reteaching the material from the book before the exams.

Exams are based on book material, so study the book!

Also, good luck on whichever TA you get. Mine sucked and didn't teach. Never had the answers to our questions and made some stupid powerpoint where she copied things word for word from the book.

I would take a different professor if I had known the classes were this much of a dread to go to.

Pros: He lets you argue for points when he hands back the exam. He usually takes note and is very willing to give back points. Can tell he's very
Cons: Tends to go on tangents.
His tests are from a test bank (although he said he will be using a new textbook). Questions don't go into the small details and stay general. He lets you argue the test questions. Lab helps your grade a ton, so do well in that. Overall, I did much better than expected.

Pros: The class was generally easy, but he was just all over the place which stresses me out as a student. The material wasn't that hard, and the lab was pretty easy as well. He takes attendance, but only uses it to boost your grade if you need it.
Cons: I wish there were more structure.
