POLS 2000 - Introduction to Political Science
Awesome course. I'd take Marietta every time I got a chance.
Pros: He is extremely engaging and knowledgable. He allows for a lot of input and discussion, and that makes for a fun course.
Cons: You HAVE to come to every class, because when he calls on you, he grades the response. No response is a zero, obviously, and you'll only be called on 2 or 3 times a semester.

POLS 2000 - Introduction to Political Science
Pros: Very light workload. 2 exams, a participation grade and a paper. He has good conversation skills, and he can be pretty funny.
Cons: I can't say I actually LEARNED much in his class. Don't go into it expecting it to prepare you for other higher-level POLS classes, because it just won't. He also takes FOREVER to give back papers, so it's damn near impossible to know how you're doing in his class.

ELECTORAL BEHAVIOR
5*****
Pros: Amazing guy with engaging lectures. The material is challenging and substantive while class lectures are participatory and enjoyable.Class time goes by very fast and you hardly feel as if you're even in a class at all. Marietta is hilarious and challenges students to think in ways that seem less like schoolwork and more like personal pondering experiences. If you want to learn something and be challenged to think while having a good time. TAKE HIM. Also, he is kind of hot...with his demeanor and confidence and what not...just makes him a bit sexy.
Cons: He randomly calls on students and asks them questions about the readings. He evaluates your responses in class as part of your grade. This is actually not a con, however, because you find yourself learning more because you're prepared for class everyday.
TAKE MARIETTA FOR AT LEAST ONE CLASS AT UGA...YOU WILL GROW IN YOUR KNOWLEDGE AND ENJOY THE EXPERIENCE!

Morgan Marietta is definitely one of the top-tier professors in the Political Science department. He specializes in political psychology and truly makes each class worth sitting in. Without question he is the best professor I have ever had and would advice everyone to take him.

Pros: He's very engaging and is open to a ton of class input. The course is based on discussions and films, so it's very fun and good for a change of pace.
Cons: There isn't a central point or theme, so it's hard to decipher what you're supposed to glean from the course, even though it is all very interesting.
I take Marietta's classes any time I can. He's the best professor I've had at UGA. His classes are more about learning things than getting grades, and his approach is a welcome relief to the PowerPoints and lectures you'll experience in any other class.

ELECTORAL BEHAVIOR
5*****
Pros: Fascinating lectures. Reading assignments are easy and usually interesting. Even if you don't read, still possible to stumble your way through a decent answer if called upon.
Cons: Slow grader. Incredibly slow. Attendance is necessary (not really a con, as I find myself looking forward to his lectures).
Would highly recommend Marietta, and this class in particular. He's a political psychologist and the focus of this class is right up his alley.

Pros: absolutely brilliant! compelling discussions, engaging activities, and tests aren't too bad as long as you do the work/come to class
Cons: really can't think of any besides the fact that there's a lot of reading and you have to do it because he randomly calls on people to speak about it and factors your impromptu answers into your grade.

Pros: Sort of an unorthodox type of professor. Nevertheless very knowledgeable. There is no text book only online readings. Class discussions are great!
Cons: Grades test extremely slow. So you never really know your standing in the class.

Pros: Interactive. His lectures do not feel like lectures. They're more like an intellectual conversations. No quizes, or tests. Just papers. Really just one of the most fascinating people i've ever know. He is funny too.
Cons: Graded responses. So do the reading, or else you're gonna look stupid. I had this one kid who didn't know what countries we were at war with, so if you don't like to be put on the spot and have your knowledge tested in public, may not be for you.
Personally, a great experience. I think i only got a B- in the class, but i am by know means bitter/ upset about it. I also think its disgusting and a disgrace that UGA would not give a man who is this great tenure track. If you're reading this Marietta, you will be missed.

Pros: Very knowledgable and engaging professor. Funny guy and easy to pay attention in his class.
Cons: I had no idea what my grade was in the class until the second to last week of class. He doesn't exactly believe in grading, so its hard to gauge how you're doing in his class.
There isn't a textbook, but there are articles and readings online. You have to be prepared for class. You have to attend class every day. He calls on students and will grade you on whether or not you are prepared. This class requires a lengthy research paper usually due the last day of finals.

Pros: Interesting lecture
Cons: Attendance is mandatory

Returns grades much later than every other professor
Very interesting class, but you must attend as 25% of your grade is being randomly selected to answer a question in class. Additionally, he generally assigns two tests and a paper - the other 75% of your grade - and only returns one of the tests so knowing your grade is a shot in the dark.

However, he is an amazing professor and, if given the opportunity, I would take him again.
