ITAL 1002
Elementary Italian
5*****
Pros: He understands that Italian is not our native language so he understands that it may take a while to fully grasp something. He gives an outline of the test the day before, which is very useful. He also drops the lowest test grade.
Cons: More tests than most classes.
He is a great professor. I always hated learning a foreign language but he made me love Italian. His class is very interactive so you'll get to know him and a lot of the people in the class.

ITAL 1002
Elementary Italian
4****
Pros: He's really approachable and wants his students to do well. He requires you to talk to him about your grades to keep you on track and make suggestions. Always available for office hours, questions and help. Very reasonable. Fair grader-- you get what you put in. He builds up his students and helps them get to where they want to be, you just have to be willing to put the work in.
Cons: Tests can be difficult and if you don't have a great grasp of listening to someone in Italian, you might not do as well. Online homework can be difficult as there is no partial credit.
Mioni is great. I sat down with him often to discuss where I was at and what I needed to get to be where I wanted to be. He really cares about his students. Take this class if you're dedicated to doing well -- you get what you put in.

ITAL 1002
Elementary Italian
4****
Pros: -A lot of fun.

-He jokes around a lot and makes class entertaining.

-He gives out food during tests.

-He wants to make sure that you do the best you can and will try to help you out as much as he can to help you get an A.

-He speaks in Italian a majority of the time.
Cons: -Creepy at times.

-Smells of cigarettes because he smokes before class most of the time.

-He speaks in Italian a majority of the time
I really enjoyed Mioni's class, and a lot of other students who have had him enjoy him as well. He did an excellent job of teaching and going into detail about the grammar and sentence structure so that you fully understood why something is the way it is. I would recommend him to anyone who is looking to do well in Italian, both for 1002 and future classes.

ITAL 1001
Elementary Italian
5*****
Pros: -Explains things in English

-Answers questions whenever and to the best of his ability

-Will help you on the test

Cons: -Assigns a lot of online homework
Lino is the nicest and most laidback teacher I've had so far at UGA. He isn't trying to make the class hard, he just genuinely wants the students to understand the material. He follows the book pretty closely, but it's a good idea to go to class because you will wind up lost if you don't go for a long period of time. It's a small class, so of course you can only miss 4 days. He's always willing to sit down with you and discuss your grade. Take Lino for Italian!!!!

ITAL 1002
Elementary Italian
5*****
Pros: Great teacher.

Very willing to accommodate schedules and listen to what students want.
Cons: Timing of final project is right when everyone is busy towards the end of the semester.
Mioni is a great teacher, probably the best Italian teacher I've had. He makes sure you understand everything and goes over things if the class has trouble learning a particular subject. He does assign every online homework problem which is annoying but if you just do them he gives you credit. Great class and a great teacher.

ITAL 1002
Elementary Italian
4****
Pros: He's really fun

He takes time to help you learn

He really does care about how well you learn the material and doesn't want you to stress too much about it.
Cons: He's a little quirky and lenient. This tends to make the class whiny when things don't go their way.
I don't know if it was just the people in my class but his discipline is a little lax which made them whiny when they actually had to do work. Regardless, he's a good teacher and I enjoy the class.

Lino is one of the best teachers at UGA. He provides lengthy explanations in English for the students of Italian grammar and culture. He is always very supportive of the students and loves to have an actual relationship with each student. He is always willing to talk to students about grades. I HIGHLY recommend him for 1001 and 1002 if you are lucky enough to get him.
