Pros: She is a really good person. I seriously think she is one of the kindest, most selfless people in the world. The workload is pretty light in this class. You should be able to get at least an A- if you complete all of your assignments on time.
Cons: Even though I love her as a person, she somewhat annoyed me as a teacher. 75% of your grade comes from various 3-5 page essays that you have to write throughout the semester which I didn't like because I hate writing. Class can definitely get boring sometimes, and the ideas discussed in class can be repetitive. You have to get a 187/200 (93.5%) to get an A.

work piles up on ELC while you talk about complete bullshit in class. it's stupid and irrelevant.
Pros: seems easy at first.
Cons: she's not a looker in the slightest. MASSIVE.

Blaise is such a nice person, and she is accepting of everyone and anyone. I just wish that our grades were based less on essays, but this class definitely changed my view on certain things. Also, she is liberal and presents most of the material from a liberal point of view (and she'll admit to it), and that somewhat annoyed me sometimes. I'd almost recommend taking this class just to get to know her. Spend extra time on your essays though because your writing ability is pretty much what makes the difference between an A, A-, or B+.

Pros: She seemed nice at first. And says she "cares" about the students. Workload is average.
Cons: 1. A strict attendance policy that is ridiculous. You cannot even have a sick day and bring in a doctor's note. This, coming from the teacher who randomly cancelled class because she was sick, is extremely unfair.

2. She won't even give credit for something being turned in late. Since she insists on using elc, she should know that sometimes the internet bungles assignments. But no. That's no excuse for Ms. Parker. And once again she is a complete hypocrite because it takes her forever to grade assignments. If I have to have something in by a certain time and date, I don't expect to receive the grade for that assignment 3 months later.

3. For someone who says she cares about the students, she is awfully good at making her students feel like they don't matter. Not only does she ramble for an entire class period without giving students time to say their piece, but she is uncompromising.

Once, I would have hailed her praises and recommended her to every student on campus. But now I warn you to find another easy A class. Although I love the subject matter and once liked her, I can't find it in me to stomach her any longer. She is so strict on things that most teachers are flexible with, and grades can suffer for it.

I took Dr. Parker's Gender and Pop Culture Class (3260 I believe?) during Summer of 2011. It was a first session course, and we met for a couple of hours each day, but I really enjoyed the material and professor. Dr. Parker is approachable, helpful, and witty. We discussed a wide range of issues, and everyone in the class had something meaningful to add. As with a lot of women's studies classes, you are required to participate in class discussions. We had to read a couple of short articles each day for discussions. Each week we would also have to turn in a critical writing assignment that discusses feminist issues and theories in regards to different types of popular culture (film, comics, novels, and television). Our midterm was 5-6 page paper in which we addressed a couple of questions provided by Dr. Parker. Final exam was a presentation you could do alone or with a partner. Overall, a great class. Dr. Parker is fair and open-minded. Everyone in the class seemed to enjoy the material and her teaching style. Grading scale was fair as well...I made an A and didn't have to kill myself. It does require work but it is attainable.

Pros: Dr. Parker is an awesome professor and I learned a lot from her class... it truly opened my eyes to a lot of issues and changed my view on a lot of things. The midterm and final are both essays that you get to do at home, and you have a week to finish them, which is definitely a plus. The attendance policy is not strict. You can miss 3 days with no penalty (Tuesday/Thursday class schedule) and then you get one point deducted from the attendance percentage after that for each day, which isn't bad if you just come to class. I don't like writing, but the essays that you do in this class aren't bad at all! Generally speaking, if you pay attention, come to class, and finish everything by the deadlines (you always have at least a week), you will do great in this class.
Cons: None really?
Take this class!! You will be glad you did!

Pros: Her class facilitates discussion that is really interesting, and it helps you learn. Midterm and final are 3 essay questions, but she gives you a week for both. Bulletin board posts on ELC are just a boost for your grade. Her class takes a little work but it's worth it
Cons: Attendance is mandatory (you get 2 days unexcused or excused) but she makes that very clear in the beginning, so if you can't come to class, your grade will suffer. Seems intense at first but she's really sweet and cares for all her students

Pros: Very open minded

Great class discussions; very interesting
Cons: Annoying project
Great teacher. Interesting course materials for each class session--never ridiculous amounts to read. There is a Magazine project due towards the end of the semester that is annoying, but not worth not taking the class. ELC discussion blogs and in class writings required. Takes attendance. Great and interesting class, I would recommend her!

Pros: She gives you a lot of easy grades to take advantage of like some opinion-posts and attendance to balance out bad grades on the midterm and final, which she grades hard on.
Cons: on the midterm essay she gave everyone an 85 if they got all the answers correct and she said no one gets an A unless they go above and beyond her expectations.
She is a really cool teacher to talk to and have discussions with in class but the videos go on and on and she doesnt allow you to bring a computer so sometimes it feels like we wasted a lot of time.

Pros: Opens your mind! Funny, pretty, confident, cute hair. Nice woman
Cons: Can't think of any
Blaise is a mind changing professor. She challenges you to think in a different way without FORCING you. She's all inclusive and loves engaging in conversations with her students. Her essays are graded in a fair manner. As long as the reading are done and you try to pay attention in class it is possible to obtain a good grade and learn a lot in her course! Course is essay based

Pros: Interesting topics, easy course load
Cons: A lot of rape/domestic violence conversations
This class is awesome. Professor Parker is very laid back, but wants her students to learn and do well. The class is thought-provoking, and majority of the grades are assignments based on formulating your own opinions. You get to watch eye-opening videos and the class relies on open discussion.

Pros: The midterm and final are "take home" tests. The class itself is discussion based and the material is interesting. There is a lot of reading, but it is generally pretty interesting. There is a lot of movie watching and she chooses really good documentaries.
Cons: At times it can feel like a class on white people should feel guilty, but it really isn't that bad.

Parker is great and very open minded, she values everyone's opinions and does not get angry if your opinions differ from hers. There are two take home grades, a mid term and a final, that are supposed to be page long answers to questions that she gives. They are moderately difficult and very manageable. Definitely recommend this class!

Pros: Full of interesting discussions on a gamut of topics. Very respectful of all beliefs and attitudes towards the hot button topics like abortion. Chance to be really creative by creating a Zine.
Cons: Assignments can be vague and midterm and final are based heavily on readings and have nothing to do with class discussions.

Pros: Dr. Parker is a great teacher. Her class is discussion based so there's no tests. Just written/essay midterm and final, which is easy enough if you do the readings.
Cons: Tests are written, so if you don't like essays, don't take the class. There's also a final analysis paper that is 8-10 pages long.

Pros: She is an extremely kind and fun person. Probably my favorite professor I have taken so far at UGA.

Her class was engaging and interesting.
Cons: Not that many. Attendance policy was strict. But as long as you go to class you should be fine. You wouldn't want to miss one of her classes anyway.
