Pros: Great professor. Great discussions with relation to real world. Read very interesting books about 5 or 6 memoirs. Seems like a lot but excellent books.
Cons: NONE
Read books write papers on your topic choice/ theme chosen in the begining of the course. If you know how to write and are able to show the same theme in each paper you can easily get 100 on all papers.

Pros: He is a very interesting man. He is passionate about the subject he teaches, and this class really taught me how to be a critical thinker due to the deep discussions we had.
Cons: Sometimes, he can seem like a douche bag. He gives pop quizzes that usually have like 5 questions on very specific details of the book.

Pros: This professor is awesome; he's sooo hipster too. His lectures are interesting and he really likes when people speak out in class about the readings. He will give more pop quizzes if people are absent a lot or don't speak out in class. These quizzes are straightforward purely to make sure you've read. The papers in this class only have to be 3 pages long and then all 4 or 5 papers during the semester are compiled in to one large paper for the final.
Cons: You do have to read quite a bit sometimes when he assigns readings, but most of the books are straight forward, except for Fanon and Wretched of the Earth.
He is an awesome professor, really knows what he's talking about and likes what he teaches. He is very knowledgeable and witty! Definitely take this class if you're considering it for your multicultural credit.

Pros: Interesting Class

Discussion based

Cons: Rothacker picks favorites

Pretty heavy workload
This class if very intersting. There is a significant amount of reading to do, and make sure you pay attention because there are reading quizzes that are alot tougher than he makes them out to be. He is a fair grader of papers, the class is not an easy A, but its definatly not that hard. the papers are alittle time consuming though, but the class is interesting and definatly worth taking as a multicultural requirement. Rothacker is a really cool guy, but can come off as kind of a douche sometimes.

Pros: Spurs on good conversation and really wants people to express their views. Cares more about you appreciating literature than being a stickler on grades. If you come to class, participate, and write your little papers you will do well.
Cons: Could be a jerk sometimes. But you kind of get used to it and begin to appreciate it. Takes attendance everyday, but he allows you 5 absenses. Random pop quizzes over the reading.

Pros: This class is very interesting and there is never a dull moment in discussing the books

This is a discussion based class, not a lecture. He will ask your opinions on sections of the books so it isn't boring.

He gives a lot of extra credit at the end of the semester

The final paper is incredibly easy considering all you have to do is write an intro and a conclusion and just make the corrections written on your essays

All of the essays are based on one subject, but he will begin the semester by discussing which subjects can be used for all of the books

He is an easy grader

(Note: I do not make any promises, but he always told us when our pop quizzes were, but do not expect that he won't surprise you. He does expect you to follow along with the readings.)
Cons: If you don't read or don't keep up with the readings, you are pretty much screwed.
He requires you to read about 30 pages a day, but the books are really interesting and not hard to read at all. There are about 5-6 essays, one for each book you will read. These essays are not actually essays considering he does not want an intro or conclusion. In the end, the essays will come together into a 20 page paper and all you have to do is make the corrections that he leaves on your papers and add an intro (1 page long) and a conclusion (2 pages long). The pop quizzes are easy and he also gives a lot of extra credit at the end of the semester. I recommend attending class because missing one day will leave you far behind in the book and on your essay.

Pros: Great teacher. One of my favorite here at UGA. Take a basic English class before this, or just know how to write, and you should be able to get an A. He does take off for little things like commas, the spacing between your header and body, etc. I didn't want to speak out in class but he started to call on me (for easy discussions) until I got comfortable. Overall pretty easy grader, especially if he likes you.
Cons: Quizzes are from specific parts of the book. Two of the books are extremely boring, but he understands that students aren't really interested in it. Spent way less time on that one.

Pros: Professor Rothacker is very approachable and fair in his grading style. He usually allows for a few unexcused absences and the overall atmosphere of his class is pretty relaxed.
Cons: Sometimes he can be rather unorganized, and I wasnt crazy about most of the books we were assigned but he didnt even quiz on the reading so it wasnt that big of a deal.
Showing up relatively prepared and with a god attitude should get you an A

Pros: Class is discussion based so as long as you show up and participate, you'll easily earn participation points.
Cons: 6 papers, one book is extremely boring. Papers have to be 3 pages long, onto the 4th page.
If writing essays & reading is easy to you/up your alley, take this class. You'l have no problem getting an A. Extra credit to make up for failed quizzes is offered towards the end of the semester.

Pros: Most books are really interesting.
Cons: Doesn't use ELC or reply to his emails.

Pop quizzes after about 150 pages so very broad range and only 5 questions.

I was really excited for this class but this became my most irritating class. He is a very picky grader. 9 points off for putting a comma in the wrong place. Spends several days on one chapter even after we have finished the book.
