The best class I've ever taken at UGA. The material is engaging and Dr. Wilson is simply fantastic. Discussion-based; you need to do the readings for class. The exams are IDs and an essay, nothing out of the ordinary or difficult if you're prepared. The book is a Bel-Jean packet, so it's cheap.

WORLD LITERATURE I
5*****
Pros: Really knows her stuff, in addition to 14 languages. Brilliant woman. Really focuses on teaching and learning instead of grades.
Cons: Lots of reading, but it's not too bad. Can be a little pompous about a true liberal literary education, something that most students lack.
Easy, extremely educational class.

Pros: She is a really good teacher. She really knows a lot about the subject and keeps the class involved and interested.
Cons: There is quite a bit of reading assigned and you'd best read it, because she has been known to go around the class and ask for people's opinions on it.

WOMEN WRITERS

Pros: AWESOME teacher- easy tests- rewards for attendance- doesnt require attendance- final is probably not gonna happen
Cons: Not long enough in her class :)
AWESOME teacher - tests are easy, all definitions and people terms - you do need to read the book she gives you (which are all works she translated- she writes/speaks like 12 languages) - you read the story, come to class the next day and talk about it. She is all about participation so you better speak!

She makes the subject matter funny and interesting, she actually makes fun of the works :) The projects are easy, you just pick your own topic and make a presentation and teach the class your topic. The quizzes are like 2 questions usually about the reading you were supposed to read (like who is the main character)- also big on the settings/locations/time periods of all the works so look that up for brownie points- the rest of the quizzes are just for rewards that you showed up (whats your favorite color, etc)

Towards the end of class we had five people show up so as a reward she made the last test optional for us so we could either take the test or write a 1.5 page paper on what we learned in class - SO GO TO CLASS!! this is an all participation class, I cannot stress this enough- there are no stupid comments/questions

You exempt the final if you have an A

Pros: Really laid back about deadlines

Incredibly knowledgeable

Genuinely wants you to learn

Great sense of humor
Cons: She wants you to speak up in class, so if you're uncomfortable, beware (but she doesn't call on random people)
Some people say there is too much reading, but it's a lit class. Of course there's reading. Personally, I've never been overwhelmed with the amount of reading.

She's amazing! Made me decide to minor in CMLT! Take any class with Dr. Wilson!
