BCMB 3100
Introductory Biochemistry and Molecular Biology
5*****
Pros: BCMB 3100. That usually gets nothing but a lot of negative comments but I had a pleasant experience in this class. Yes, it is challenging but that is only because you have to put forth some effort each night. It is NOT AT ALL too difficult to understand. Woods is amazing professor because he wants to make sure you understand. I took this class Summer 2013 and Woods created a study guide for the exams and posted these on a google doc where the entire class could manage it and answer questions. Woods would monitor the answers and would tell us if we were wrong and would make sure by test time that we had all the answers correct. And the exam, well it was exactly from the study guide! Nothing new and no surprises. I studied the study guide, participated on the google doc and I made an A in the overall class. I transferred from a small community college and this was my first semester at UGA, and I enrolled in Biochem with Woods and it passed with flying colors. You can too! Do NOT be afraid of this class. Just Work your butt off, study every night, stay on top of the material, go to class. Woods spoon-feeds it to you.
Cons: None.

Pros: Best professor I ever had and will have in my life. He made BCMB 3100 very interesting, and his lectures literally felt like story time. His google docs are the best thing in the world because he is very involved in the google doc and is always there to help students correct their mistakes and succeed. He made this class so much more enjoyable. To do well, you HAVE to make use of that google doc because his exams are basically the google doc itself. LOTS OF EXTRA CREDIT AVAILABLE if you're taking this with wood and sabatini
Cons: have to pay attention in class to do well.
It's an information rich class. Yes you do have to study for this class but Wood and Sabatini are the best combination of professors for biochem.

GOOD LUCK :)

BCMB 3100
Introductory Biochemistry and Molecular Biology
5*****
Pros: Wood is a fantastic professor. He teaches with an after-hours Google Doc discussion, which is the best teaching idea I've seen in years. His slides are meticulous, his lectures are meticulous, and he's very good about explaining overarching concepts and tying material together.
Cons: He usually teaches just one part of BCMB 3100, which is super lame. You get used to Dr. Wood's style and good teaching, then suddenly you're getting lectures from some shitty teacher like Przybla who just wants you to memorize several dozens of intermediates for one test.
Wood is great, but be careful who teaches the later parts of the class.

Pros: Wood is great at explaining concepts and letting you know which things are important to study for the test. He also goes over the quiz questions so you can get those extra points much easier.
Cons: He usually doesn't have office hours if the class has a break out session.
He does a great job at helping students understand, but this course still requires a lot of time spent outside the classroom studying and especially doing the recommended book questions.
