He is SUPER knowledgeable about the subject. He lectures 100% from the book. Exams contain only lectured material. If you want to communicate with him, good luck. Your better off seeing a TA.

Pros: Funny guy, makes this hour and 15 minute class go by relatively fast

Actually writes his own notes on projector in class
Cons: 60 question Exams

Weekly homework
Compared to Chem 130 (used to be Chem 184) Bio 150 is a great class. Dr Orr makes things relatively easy to understand, and attending PLUS will clear up what you don't understand in lecture. Dr Orr writes notes during class on the projector while explaining them, instead of mindlessly reading from a slide. His notes can get messy sometimes too so make sure to follow along with what he is actually saying rather than just copying the notes word for word. There is weekly homework via mastering biology on the internet but the assignments are short and relatively easy, most of the answers can be found on google. The tests are very long (60 questions) but there are reviews before the test given by the TAs that are extremely helpful.

His class was an easy A if you just do the reading and take notes on the reading, and look over the powerpoints before a test. Also attend EVERY lecture because there are clicker points. I loved this class, even though its at 8 am. I would recommend him as a professor, he was clear on his expectations, gave extra credit, and genuinely wanted us to succeed in his class.

Pros: Easy class

Drops one test grade
Cons: 8 am class

Big lecture

TAs were often confused
Go to the lecture, take GOOD notes - things from lecture are on the almost always on the test. If he constantly reiterates a subject, it'll be on the test. Use the online study tools, always read, and go to PLUS sessions. Ended up with an A in the class. The bio lab is also very easy.

Pros: Great teacher, love the "recitation" part of lecture because it gives everyone a chance to sit in the front and interact with the professor to learn better, clicker quizzes make you pay more attention during the lecture so you get the questions right.
