ART 1300
Art Appreciation for non-art majors
3***
Easy class. STUPID papers every week. By STUPID, I mean dept. tries to make it creative but a more straightforward assigment would be preferred. To role play is absurd. Just ask me to write a paper on political art rather than devise my own manifesto complete with a piece of art I created that up be photographed and uploaded. lame. Class is easy A so just take it.

Very subjective grading. Material is boring and monotonous. I'm taking the online version and I can only assume its better than the in class version. I wish this wasn't a required course.

Cons: Don't be fooled by the fact that this is an online class. It is NOT easy, nor is it very engaging. When you have questions, you're more likely to get a response from a fellow student than you are the TA (at least mine, anyway) or the instructor. Don't expect to get NEARLY the same interaction that you would with an "in-person" instructor or TA. The subject matter is easy, but it seems that the curriculum is intended to make up for the convienence of use by making the weekly projects ridiculously complex (on avg. i spend about 2 hrs with each). What could be 2-3 simple projects is made into one behemoth assignment with needlessly complicated directions. I did not enjoy this class AT ALL, don't feel like I have really retained any of the information I "learned", and it is the only class I don't have an A in all semester.

ART 1200
Art Appreciation
5*****
Pros: She has a passion for art that is easily recognized and lectures very well and very in depth. Her class will teach you a lot about many variations of art in a fascinating way. Her tests and quizzes can be graded hard but she gives enough project and extra credit to trump bad grades. You have to read the material to do well on the quizzes and extra credit.
Cons: There are really no cons to the class besides having to study a lot of information at a time and the readings are usually 7 pages long and take time to read.

Pros: None.
Cons: 10 hard extra credit assignments that were only worth .1 points each. Class grade is out of 100. Tons of reading. Exams are difficult. You probably will have to take her if you're an art major, I got a B but I was lucky.

Cons: very hard to understand

exams where like nails on a chalkboard

must know about art before hand for the art major class.
She really does love the subject, but she is a little bit too into it.
