Take him!!!!! Easy A ONLY if you are a hardworking student.
Pros: He does iclicker questions in which you can earn up to 30 points on a test (he does this four times for four tests, so on each test you can earn up to 30 extra credit points and there are 150 points in a test) and he lets you use and bring in two notecards on the test. The course work is hard, and he isn't very good at teaching it, but he isn't that bad either. Honestly, this class is an easy A, IF you go to class and get your iclicker points and STUDY AT HOME. I read some of this comments, and um this is college, we have to read from our textbooks and understand the material ourselves. Sensemen isn't that bad of a teacher, he does teach but he's not like GREAT. I'm going to get a B in the class because I was stupid and studied last minute for two of the four tests...Last minute as in 2 days before the test. Study every chapters as soon as it is assigned, and make sure you study for the tests several days in advance. This is an upper division class, you can't study for it the day before and make an A. For example, the two tests I DID study for I got high As. Anyways, I know I could have EASILY gotten an A (a lot of people in the class got As), and I am very upset about that lol. Just don't be lazy..
Cons: His lectures can get boring -_-

He does not teach. You are expected to teach your self and read and understand a entire chapter every day because you will be quizzed the next day. Do not take him.
Pros: NONE
Cons: Very difficult class. He is a super hard teacher.

Pros: Gives out up to 20 points extra credit for each test by doing iclicker in each class. Allows two notecards for each test.
Cons: He barely teaches. The TA's all suck. You have you teach yourself the material.

Pros: If you memorize the book, you can prob, get all the iclicker quiz questions right= up to 20pt on exam
Cons: Everything

NO LECTURE teach yourself by reading the book

Doesn't answer questions

Very snobbish

Class is just a quiz session, and quizzes don't correspond to the exam

NO EXAM REVIEWS
He teaches nothing. In his own words "I believe the best and only way to learn is to read the book yourself." the popular phrase in describe his courses= "You have to cradle the book to sleep." The chapters in the book are so dense and each sentence is filled with valuable information. I have no problem with reading the book, but because he refuses to actually lecture, it takes me six times as long to read a chapter because im trying to memorize every single sentence because I don't know what to focus on. And you have to have each chapter read and deep in your memory to get iclicker quiz questions right because they are over every little detail, and if you miss those, not extra credit on your exam! He doesn't make the exams himself, so even if he is telling you things in class, the exams are just random questions. and since he doesn't make the exams himself he can't possibly give you a review. Ask him for a review and he'll tell you to "read the book." I believe and any other worthy professor will tell you the same, each person has their own way to learn. For me reading the book, the words after a while just blur together and I don't know where the start or end is. I need to hear the info as I right notes, re-read my notes, then read the book. Its very ignorant to believe that the only way a person is to learn is to just read the material. All in all he is lazy and doesn't want to have to create real lectures and do real teaching. I just think he doesn't even know what he is doing. Oh don't be surprised if you ask a question in class, and he gives you a round about answer that doesn't answer the question, or gives you the wrong answer. He has done this many times and its know because people that do have the ability to learn from a book, and tell you exactly what he said that was wrong.

Pros: Prof. Senseman reinforces what you should teach yourself, which if you utilize MASTERING BIOLOGY, you shouldn't have a difficult time. The I-Clicker questions he has can be found in the instructional videos in mastering biology.
Cons: The QL labs felt like a waste of time, but it does help boost your grade. The lectures are hard to follow if you have not read the material. The test are tricky, so pay attention.

Pros: If you're a serious student, want to learn, and are willing to work very hard, you'll do fine. If you think you are automatically entitled to make a C --- no stay away, cause you might get an F. In 3 courses, I made 3 A's I'd like to say that what Professor Senseman taught me has literally saved my own life. It was not only a privilege to have him for a professor - but literally a life saver for all the things I learned and studied just in case they were on the test. Best teacher at UTSA
Cons: If you're Lazy, you might just flunk. But that would be your fault
Show up for class. Sit up front - in the same seat every class. Visit him during office hours. This man is exceptional - and his office is a pleasure. Get to know him. He's so smart. Work hard, and you'll walk away with a fair grade -- the one you deserve. What he taught me has saved my life. My biggest regret is that I went on to finish with Ecology (which was why I was there)..... what I should have done is be his research assistant. That would have really made a difference in my life. If you plan on being a doctor --- take his classes. If you can't make it here --- you'll make a lousy Doctor. He is reasonable. On several occasions I took the time to tell him why I chose the answer that I did. He recognized that I cared. He recognized that I wanted to learn. And I got credit for my answer. This will be the class you grow up in. So grow up. Having a degree won't do you any good if you didn't learn anything. I learned a lot.

Pros: Best Professor up there ---- if you're there to learn. If you want a free ride -- well, if you want a free ride, why go to college? He doesn't hand out A's. You have to study and learn the material. Then again, that's why you're there, remember? To learn.
Cons: Don't take this in Summer School. There is just too much information and not enough time.
Best Professor at the University. He's a genius. So if you think he's odd, then it's you that's stupid. I took every class I could with him...... knowing full well that I started out with an F..... and had to work my way up. I got an A. I deserved an A. He's got a great sense of humor..... visit him at office hours..... show up for every class. Sit in the same place. Let him learn what you look like. Get to know the man, and work hard. It's worth it. I learned things from him that have literally saved my life later on. Take advantage of having a great teacher. I've attended 8 colleges and Universities. Have one undergraduate degree, and 2 advanced degrees. Trust me. Take his class and learn something -- yes, you'll have to study. But it's worth it! Thank you Professor Senseman. For Everything!

Pros: USE MASTERING BIOLOGY, it will help!!! He gives iclicker points on test and lets you use two notecards on every test except the final. You CANNOT slack in this class, study every night or chance you get. Do not recommend unless you really are willing to dedicate time to this course.
Cons: Doesn't teach at all. You have to learn EVERYTHING on your own. Make sure to read every chapter and do the practices quizzes at the back.

Cons: Not a good class for summer school. There's just too much material to learn.
He's not a cookie cuter teacher. He's amazing. If you want to really learn -- he's your man. If you're lazy --- don't take his class.
