Pros: Professor Kiecolt presents the class in a very relatable manner. She keeps the class interested with entertaining, personal stories and goes over the material in great detail. She is also very knowledgable and passionate about her field.
Cons: The only con I can think of is the group project and this is only a con because it is so simple that you can do it by yourself, but doing it in a group simply makes it more of a hassle.

The setup of the class is easy enough. The class is based on a points system. It is divided into sections with an exam at the end of each section. Her exams are not comprehensive, except for the optional final, which only serves to substitute your lowest exam, should you choose to take it. The exams are all multiple choice and she posts a study guide online at the beginning of each section. I still advise that you go to class because the study guides will not have anything pertaining to class lecture or discussion. Group speakers and videos are scattered here and there and do sometimes find their way on to the exam.

There are 3 written assignments, responses to the textbook and are very easy to finish. They are simply 1-2 pages of written response to questions asked about specific topics in the book.

The group project is a pain, but easy to manage.

Honestly, she was a really sweet woman. The only issue I had with her was that she made a seemingly interesting class unnecessarily difficult. I managed to pull out a B but it really wasn't worth the amount of effort I had to put into this class. For example, in one of my papers she reworded a sentence SO THAT IT SAID EXACTLY THE SAME THING and marked me down for it. She marks down on your papers if you say something in your own words. Don't take this class. Take Social Psychology instead. It is exactly the same class.

Pros: This is a smaller class and you have class participation. She knows you by name and is a sweet lady. I actually learned quite a bit in this course.
Cons: There are a shit ton of readings. If you hate reading, you'll hate these even more. They are dull and if you do not read them, you will more than likely fail the quizzes and tests. I felt like this class had more work than need be which was annoying but it is not necessarily a hard class. If you do not have to take it, I would look elsewhere. It is too much work for just an elective/area credit.
You have 3 tests which are somewhat difficult. You have to read the readings and study the notes to do well. There is one group project. She chooses the group so it is possible to get a bad one. There are weekly quizzes on the readings that are simple if you read the readings.

She makes an easy class extremely difficult. The tests are hard for no reason because most information is common sense. The way she structures her tests make it difficult to choose the right answer because there are two answers that could be right. Her grading system makes it almost impossible to get an A. She also grades papers based on what she thinks you should write and marks you wrong for your own opinion. I even had a friend who went in twice to see her about help on a paper and she gave her a 44/50! DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS UNLESS YOU ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO!

Good professor, covers material well. Doesnt deviate much from what she is going to say. Lecture without a lot of discussion, but if a question is asked, she will talk about it with the class. In Class writing assignments are given randomly, though you can usually tell when one is coming up.

Extremely long writing assignment but grades it too harshly. You lose points for page numbers. page formatting. For a SOC 2000 Level course, the exams seem as if its a SOC 4000 course. Her lectures are EXTREMELY DRY!!!!Have fun trying to stay awake and not daydream about dropping the course.

Dr Kiecolt is a very nice lady and def loves the subject she teaches. class is VERY boring though, she does take attendance but if you dont miss more than 3 days she will bump your grade up at the end. Class has 2 tests plus a cumulative exam.

She's a really cute little lady... I think she used to take attendance, but doesn't so much anymore. However, if you come to class regularly she will definitely help your grade out for it.

Pros: -Some videos

-Interesting reading assignments

-Study guides

-Powerpoint slides posted before class
Cons: -She can be a bit frazzled.

-Tests can be a bit difficult

-Class can be boring at times, as can Kiecolt
There are a few writing assignments throughout the semester. For tests, study the study guide and know it COMPLETELY. Do not ignore any part of it because it will all be on the tests

Dr. Kiecolt is an amazing professor. This past semester I took her Intro class and absolutely loved it. She's passionate about the subject and truly knows what she's talking about. Her excitement for Sociology is contagious; she inspired me to double major with Sociology! She offers good tidbits and outside knowledge and is always relevant. If you can take a class with Dr. Kiecolt, DO IT! You won't regret it!

Pros: Ultimately a neat class if you're willing to show up and listen. Easy grader when it comes to tests and essays (if you follow her prompts exactly). Overall, a pretty neat and understanding lady who LOVES in-class participation.
Cons: You MUST do the readings in order to do well on her quizzes. Some are quite long and extremely boring but press through it and it will be beneficial. GO TO CLASS. The 2nd test she went over almost word for word in a review. She will take attendance and dock you if you don't bother to show up (P.S. there is no such thing as a make-up quiz). Be prepared to write a few essays and take tons of quizzes.

Pros: You can pass the quizzes most of the time without reading since the information is common sense. Her "writing assignments" are laughable. Definitely the easiest papers I have ever had to write.
Cons: EVERYTHING ELSE. She makes the tests ridiculously hard considering the course material. You have to know every little detail from every reading to be able to get an A on an exam. Also, she gets upset when you leave the room to use the restroom, freaks out if you have your phone even if it's obvious you aren't using it.
Extremely boring class. Professor will make you hate it even more, if that is at all possible...

Pros: Not too much work

The essays are easy enough
Cons: Considering the level on the course the exams are WAY too difficult. She also really boring and at timea you actually have to fight to even listen to her.
She is a great and nice person but she treats this 2000 level class as if was a 4000 level class. Ive apend three says bedore xompletely dilling out the study guidea ahe gicw out to only find out the stusy guide is completely worthless. This is in no way a easy A class the first exam you do will be nothing like you expect, I pronise you. I regret ever signing up for this class.

Pros: The papers com straight from the book. The notes are online.
Cons: The notes are not very well organized and she tends to stumble over her lectures.
I didn't really enjoy this class as much as i thought i would. Some days class was interesting, but most were pretty boring and I spent the majority of the time trying to figure out what to write down because she was kind of all over the place. The tests are multiple choice and short answer. Often times the questions are really detailed and talk about specific graphs from the notes.

Pros: It's an interesting class that I found thoroughly entertaining, and the essays (2 given) weren't too hard
Cons: Prof. Kiecolt frequently looses her train of thought and just stutters momentarily before moving on, the quizzes were based on readings from the text as well as research articles and these sources commonly opposed each other which didn't help when the material appeared on a quiz
I would recommend this class, however, always do the readings, go to class, and be prepared

Pros: Good information to know, I am a sociology major, so I had a good time
Cons: doesn't always teach... more so just reads her slides and 'tries' to engage and ask questions.... some numbers and facts overlap in a way that can be confusing, especially since her tests are so tedious.
She doesn't always come to class... and won't tell the class when she won't. Her tests are pretty detailed, so read the readings very meticulously and you should be good.
