Pros: - You can work on the 5 projects with the partner and the final project is a group project.
Cons: - Have to attend lectures
- If you miss just one class, you're out of luck because the book doesn't help and you can only learn by going to class
- Group project is nearly impossible if you don't have a very good group

Really didn't enjoy this class. If you do well with VBA code and SQL, you'll do fine in this class. If not, you'll probably struggle. The exams are quite difficult (but he curves) and the group project takes a stupid amount of time to complete, and i...

Really didn't enjoy this class. If you do well with VBA code and SQL, you'll do fine in this class. If not, you'll probably struggle. The exams are quite difficult (but he curves) and the group project takes a stupid amount of time to complete, and it needs to be near-perfect in order for your group to receive a good grade. The workload for this class is way too much. You must go to class and you won't be able to slack off in this one.

This class sucks and is very different than any other class you have to take. Reading the book doesn't help, so you have to go to class and listen very carefully. He basically shows you how to use different features of Microsoft access in class and then you have 5 projects, 3 tests, and a final group project and presentation all based off of what you learned how to do in the lectures. I would recommend recording the lectures just in case you miss something in class because the lectures are crucial. I don't know anyone who got an A in this class because nobody likes programming in microsoft access, as it is very boring. Getting a B is definitely doable though, if you study with friends. Make sure you do not take this class without knowing anyone else in the class, as you will definitely have a ton of questions.

Pros: A very supporting/caring professors.
Cons: No skipping class.
You have to go to Maher's class or you will not do good in his course. It's that simple. I thought that this class was the most interesting business class I took at Tech. I gained a thorough understanding of Microsoft Access inside and out. You might never use Access beyond this class, but you will certainly know if you do. The final project in this class was the single toughest/most time consuming thing I worked on at Tech, but it certainly paid off. I learned a lot from it and I pulled out an A in the course.

Pros: Maher keeps class very structured, goes through all the steps so you will know how to do the projects, overall nice guy
Cons: material can get very boring, projects can be time consuming,
Professor Maher's goal is to challenge his students to learn and understand Microsoft Access. He will try and scare you into thinking that this class is going to be super hard and at some points it is difficult, but overall if you show up, take notes on the steps he goes over in class, and put effort into the projects, you will do fine in this class. The tests are fairly involved especially since the last 2 are done on the computer. The easiest way to study for the tests is to redo the projects and from that is what he usually tests on.

Pros: Smart guy and tells you exactly what you need to do and hes pretty nice. Don't let him scare you off after the first test.
Cons: This course requires way to much work. I probably spent more time on this one class and the final project than all my other classes combined last semester.

Write down the steps as he goes through them. It's much easier to do the projects when you can follow your step by step notes for where to click and what to do. He's a smart guy and is definitely willing to help.

Exam 1 is written, which is weird. This is really where you should know the steps of how to do things in Access.

Exam 2 is straight memorization of the code.

I enjoyed working with Access. The class can get pretty boring, but every step taken during class is vital, so seriously don't goof off on Facebook or other things. You can miss a key step that'll end up killing your projects so they don't work. There are so many different ways to do things in Access that even if you try and google it, you probably won't find what he wants.

Professors like Dr. Maher are what differentiates our accounting program from those of other universities. Dr. Maher's ability to teach this information systems course so perfectly within the context of information systems auditing is what sets us apart from our peers and creates the high demand for our major by accounting firms across the country.

Pros: He takes the time to learn everyone's name. And, to be fair, this is really dry material, but he goes through all the steps, and tries to make it interesting.
Cons: It's hard to figure out how to study for these exams.
I really enjoyed being in his class. He always had a smile for everyone, and was quite willing to help if you had questions

This is a very good class even though it's all about databases. I feel very comfortable working with the coding, etc. now. Dr. Maher is extremely nice. He walks around and says good morning to each of his students individually every class period. You do have to work hard but I'd say its a medium-hard difficulty class.
