ACIS 3314 - Tax Impact on Decisions
Professor Salbador has been one of my favorite professors at VT, and most people I've talked to would say the same. She does make tax a lot more interesting and really does care about her students. The only people that don't like her are people who ...

Pros: You can still do audit in graduate school.
Cons: Terrible Professor
Students that came out of undergraduate and currently in graduate school have close to 4.0 are doing bad in her class because she does not teach. She contradicts herself in class and is a terrible professor. Slides are not updated, reading quizzes are unfair, she expects an overwhelming amount of reading and doesn't even cover half of it in class. Not good at answer questions and just talks in circles. Disrespectful to students (rolls eyes) and does not hold a good atmosphere for learning.

Really didn't teach us at all. She just had us read at home and we would come in and do problems out of the textbook. Possibly one of the worst professors I have had here at Tech. Her grading scheme was pretty fair, she gave lots of extra credit at the end of the semester which will boost you quite a bit. If you actually want to be taught, instead of just work problems the whole time, I would avoid this class like the plague. BTW, she gives a quiz every class period, so you must attend class every day. She dropped 2 at the end of the semester, but still a pain. P.S. She likes to put trick questions on the test. Even though they are open book/note the average on the 2nd exam was a 60 because of her trick questions. She states "tax is a precise subject" but when you call her out on precision stuff in class she says it doesn't matter.

Professor Salbador has been one of my favorite professors at VT, and most people I've talked to would say the same. She does make tax a lot more interesting and really does care about her students. The only people that don't like her are people who don't come to class every day, so they miss the daily quizzes, which aren't fun, but they do make you keep up with the material. Her tests really aren't all that hard if you actually open your book. Take her class if you can!

Worst Professor ever. Horrible grading system. Awful course structure. Perfect example of how incredibly worthless the tax portion of the accounting department is at Virginia Tech.

She gives quizzes every class period. Tests are ridiculously hard and she doesn't curve. Be prepared for a lot of studying. She's the hardest teacher for this course. Take another one if you want it to be easier.

Pros: The class is not very hard; you are garanteed a B or higher if you just go to class. The two tests- midterm and final- are open book and she gives you the topics that EACH question is on. Just put stickies in your text book before the test and you should be garanteed atleast a B on each 25 question Test.
Cons: There is a 4 questions quiz on your readings every class, and the questions can be pretty nit picky. I got 3/4 on most quizzes and she ends up added bonus points to your quizzes towards the end when we play jeopardy. She never lets you make up quizzes, even if you miss class for sports or medical reasons which is bogus and screwed my quiz grades over.
2 Easy open book tests. 4 Leniently graded HW assignments. Annoying quiz every class. Go to every class.

Pros: Exams are open-book and open-notes. She tells you specifically what will be on the exams as well.
Cons: Gives a quiz nearly every class.
Gives a project that is quite easy (she shows you how to do it in class) and it takes up a good portion of your grade. Her exams are fairly difficult but the questions are very similar to the problems you work in class.

Pros: Useful Class
Cons: Tax is just a difficult topic.
I signed up for Salbador because I had her for 4314 but i got a graduate assistant for 4414. I am very disappointed. I would have done better if I actually had Dr. Salbador.
